Abstract
In 82 patients enrolled in this study, 59 patients were clinically evaluable and 40 patients were bacteriologically evaluable.
Clinical effect of 59 patients (42 from Tosufloxacin(T) group and 17 from Norfloxacin (N) group) was evaulated and sensitivity test of 62 strains of micro-organism was tested with Tosufloxacin and Norfloxacin disc, in urinary tract infections. A
150 mg
Tosufloxacin tablet was given lwo times daily to T group and a 200 mg Norfloxacin capsule was given three times daily to N group for 5 to 14 days according to the severity of urinary tract infection.
Clinical response of T group was 81.0% and that of N group was 64.7% and the clinical effect of 40 patients (30 from T group and 10 from N group) from whom the microorganism cultured before the treatment, were 90% and 70% respectively.
Of 82 patients, 40 patients(30 from T group, 10 from N group) were bacteriologically evaluable and eradication rate of Tosufloxacin and Norfloxacin were 96.7% and 90% respectively.
In the sensitivity test of 62 strains isolated from 82 patients, 82% and 84% were sensitive 10% and 3% were resistant to Tosufloxacin and Norfloxacin disc respectively.
The clinical side effects were mild to moderate gastrointestinal in nature. There was no significant change in blood chemistry and cther laboratory tests in both groups.
